At present cellular phones (cellphones) are among the mandatory items that are owned. Mobile phones become objects that are always carried everywhere. No wonder, because the sophistication of mobile phones currently provides many conveniences. However, excessive use of mobile phones can pose a risk of health problems. In addition to communication tools, mobile phones have many features that users can enjoy. Ranging from cameras, games, to internet access.   • Cubital tunnel syndrome

  • When playing a cellphone you may often bend and lean your elbows, either just to hold a cellphone, play with a cellphone, or when calling. If done too often, there is a risk of the ulnar nerve in your elbow area being disrupted. As a result you will experience numbness, tingling to pain in the elbow or forearm that radiates to the little finger and ring finger.
  • Text neck syndrome

  • Using a cell phone excessively, tends to make you look too much down. This can eventually cause tension in the neck muscles so that it feels stiff, even causing pain that radiates to the shoulders and arms.
  • Impairs vision

  • The blue light (bluelight) produced by the cellphone screen can cause eye fatigue, and then can cause pain in the eyes. If it occurs in the long term, these waves can damage the cornea and endanger visual function.
  • Cancer

  • Research shows the possibility of cell phone radiation is carcinogenic or can cause cancer. Even so, clinical evidence has not been obtained that is strong enough to support this opinion, so that further research is still needed.

Mobile phones can indeed have a negative impact if used excessively. Even so, it can't be denied, now cell phones also play a big role in the daily lives of many people. Here are some tips to minimize the negative impact of cellphone use:
  • At night before going to sleep, try to turn off the cellphone. Keep the atmosphere of the room to stay dark and calm so that the quality of sleep is better.
  • Avoid using cell phones while driving, both cars and motorcycles. If absolutely necessary, you should stop at the curb for a moment to answer a phone call or reply to a message. Better a little late, than experiencing danger.
  • When using a cellphone, try not to look down too much. Rest every 20 minutes, and stretch your arms, arms, back and neck.
  • Exercises like yoga or pilates can help you reduce muscle stiffness due to using too much cellphone.
  • Don't use cellphone when walking. This can increase the chance of falls and injuries.
  • If you are worried about the risk of cancer and other health problems, you can limit the use of mobile phones and use hands-free when listening to music or calling.
